We hired Magician Anthony to entertain adults and children at a 40th birthday party. The event took place outside. Anthony called ahead to let me know he was on his way. He showed up on time and set up everything himself, declining our offer to help as he stated “you just have a good time and enjoy the show.” The magic show was top notch! He quickly got the attention of not only the adults, but the children as well. Even my 2 1/2 yr old sat and watched attentively! After the magic show, Anthony stayed and did balloon twisting for the children. I was amazed with his talent. For the rest of the evening, one guest after the next continued to tell me how great he was!

Doing some math here in the year 2025 on what Magician should be making in this day and age.
I took a post from my friend Tracy Starke owner of www.btoonz.com and did some math for today's Magician pay and this is what I found.
It's difficult to pinpoint an exact amount a magician made at birthday parties in the 1970s, as prices varied based on location, experience, and popularity.
However, a general estimate would be between $50 and $150 per performance.In 1970, a magician's pay to buy a new car would be: $150 x 15 shows = $2,250.
In the year 2026, a magician's pay to buy a used car would be: Child birthday show @ $300 x 15 shows = $4,500.The typical new car in 2025 costs around $12,000 to $14,000. To match this price, a magician would need to earn: $800 x 15 shows = $12,000.
Therefore, $600 to $800 is a reasonable rate for a magician to charge in 2025. I'm starting to make this amount with my new magic that I've built and created. I'm able to charge $600 to $800 for a walk-around strolling magic show and $800 to $1,200 for a stand-up show with Mr. Jack o'lantern & Air*Wolf the alpha levitation! It's nice to know that to get paid like a real magician, you have to up your game with new magic that people want to see and is worth their time.
